This album is my jam!
Makes me want to make music again, for certain.
Okay, so this goes out to all the female lifters out there or even the male lifters who have advice. I want to start lifting, but 1. I am super terrified that I won’t be able to do it and 2. I am completely in the dark about how to even start. I am at the heaviest I ever want to be which…
Allrighty, I’ll start off by stating that I’m a male, just so you know up front.
I started lifting using starting strength. http://startingstrength.com/ It’s a very straight forward program that has you lifting 3 days a week . there are 2 different routines, and you just alternate them every other day.
There’s a book for starting strength, which is good for a read as it talks a lot about form and science behind lifting, but it’s not essential. You can find the basic workout program online, and there are literally thousands of videos on youtube that show you the proper form on how to do the lifts!
For you, the beauty of starting strength is that you can start with nothing but the bar if you need to, and add weight from there as you feel you’re ready for it. It’s straight forward an easy, just take it slow and watch your form so you don’t hurt yourself!
Now having said all that…starting out at the gym and lifting can be intimidating. Lots of huge fit people stomping around, feeling awkward trying to learn new lifts, etc. Just remember, every one of those people started where you are at some point, so they understand. Majority of them are focused on their own thing, so won’t even notice! Heck, some are even nice and might even offer tips :)
Good luck, give it a go! I myself went from 351 to 237 using Starting Strength and running, so it does work!
